I'm going to come out and say it. I don't approve of seasonal house decoration. The flowers that happen to be in season and a Christmas tree for the last two weeks of December are only things I change according to the calendar (I change lots of things all year round - I'm just talking about changing your home *because* of the season), so it is important to me that the colours I surround myself with should be flexible and should in all seasons. Perhaps this is why aubergine and chartreuse are so popular with me. They look fabulous alone and together and if seasonal decoration was important to you, you could go have aubergine accented with pops of chartreuse for the colder seasons and then reverse for spring and summer.
The combination came up a lot in the design shows this year too with wonderful cashmere plaids using both colours, and lots and lots of aubergine at events like Maison et Objet.
Do you succumb to seasonal decoration? What colours keep you alive year round?

Gorgeous colours, my tasteful friend!
I succumb to a few twinkly lights and otherwise make the place cosy with stuffed fruitbowls and any twiggy bits I pick up at the Heath.
I'm loving aubergine, too. I'm planning to buy some wool aubergine tights to go with a blue silk dress, Ă la the most recent Alberta Ferretti ad campaign.

Oh, I LOVE these two colors. Those roses are so lovely.

I love aubergine! And: Mr. C and I never even had a Christmas tree until our first child arrived (eight years into our marriage). Now--for my three--we do indeed have seasonal decorations, but ones that they make and lovingly display.

Lovely combination! I do seasonally decorate but now that my son is older we tend to find decorations in colours beyond red and green...copper and green, or teal, to go with the living room.
Do you have major furniture pieces in these colours? I love mixing patterns (lots of paisley and leopard print) and textures (velvet, heavy silk) but usually in fairly neutral tones. Our bedroom is differnt...predominantly red.

No, I don't do seasonal decorating. The only exception is Christmas. I put out advent candles (non scented because my husband is allergic)and put up a Christmas tree.

What a gorgeous combination. I just love these colors together, both seem so fresh and modern. My mom and grandmother have always been big seasonal decorators so I think it's kept me from doing the same. I go to their homes and enjoy the transformations!
